GENERAL INFORMATION
REGISTRATION: Complete the Camporee registration form. Mail to Jon Cerda by January 29 or bring it to February Roundtable.
BOY SCOUTS will participate as Patrols working together participating in the various Rendezvous theme activities.
WEBELOS PARTICIPATION: The Webelos will be participating as Pack units and not as patrols or dens. The unit is encouraged to make a "Webelos Flag/ Banner for this event.
RECORD KEEPING: Each Boy Scout Troop and Webelos Unit must complete the enclosed Camporee attendance report.
This form must be turned in at registration with the staff.
Rendezvous 2011 RULES: The Scout Oath and Law shall be the code of conduct these days and always.
WATER: Bring water to the event. No water refilling may be available if they have turned off the hydrants.
"Above ground" fires are acceptable within contained or rock fire rings. Fire water bucket must be within 20 feet of fire and fire must be attended at all times.
TRASH: Practice low impact camping and take all trash home with you.
UNIFORMS: The Rendezvous Camporee is an official Scout function. All participants are requested to wear Rendezvous era clothing out of respect for the host club and their policies. If you can not bring yourself to don an old time costume, then plan to wear class B uniforms throughout the event. Patrols (Webelos units) will be scored on uniforms or costume clothing at various Program Activity areas. Show your scout spirit & wear your jeans and flannels or uniform.
ALL STAFF MEMBERS WILL BE SETTING THE EXAMPLE BY BEING IN RENDEZVOUS ERA ATTIRE OR COMPLETE CLASS "A or B UNIFORMS FOR THE WEEKEND - BOTH SENIOR AND JUNIOR STAFF GROUPS. Of course warm clothing is allowed as an outer layer.
EVENTS: Program events will include: BLACK POWDER SHOOTING, TOMAHAWK THROWING, ARCHERY, TUG O WAR, FIRE BUILDING, COOKING COMPETITION, TRADERS ROW AND EXHIBITS, NATIVE GAMES, DISTRICT CAMPFIRE AND MORE..
FIREWORKS: Absolutely no fireworks are permitted to be used by Scouts.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND DRUGS: No beer or other intoxicating liquors are allowed. Also, no drugs other than those prescribed by a doctor are permitted. Anyone caught with or using alcohol or drugs will be required to leave. Anyone using illegal substances will be reported to the proper authorities" NO Tobacco in any program areas.
PARKING AND MOTOR VEHICLES: All motor vehicles will be parked in designated areas. No vehicles will be allowed in any program area campsite, except to unload and load equipment unless authorized by the Camporee committee. ANY DEVIATION FROM THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE VIOLATOR'S CAR BEING TOWED AT HIS EXPENSE - or horrendous verbal abuse.
RELIGIOUS OBSERVANCES: The twelfth point of the Scout law is "A scout is Reverent." All Scouts Webelos, Leaders and participants are expected to attend a religious service during the Camporee.
MEDICAL FORMS/ PERMISSION FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT FORMS: All Units are responsible for keeping and maintaining medical forms and medical releases. ACCIDENTS can and do happen. Be prepared.
LANTERNS: No flame type of lights should be allowed in any tents. Have your Scouts use flashlights & battery operated lanterns.
LIQUID FUELS: All fuels are to be handled by responsible adult leaders only. It is the Unit Leader’s responsibility to make sure that everyone -both adults and boys - follows this policy.
KNIVES: No "Bowie styled" or other type of sheath knife is allowed unless you are on staff and it is part of your Rendezvous attire. All Scouts and adults should use folding pocket knives only.
TRASH: The Strother Free Trapper site is our home away from home. Please leave it cleaner than you found it. All trash should be contained in plastic bags and returned home with you. Leave no evidence that you camped in your assigned campsite.
INSPECTIONS / JUDGING: There will be a campsite inspection on Saturday afternoon. The score will be in your unit’s total points.
GATEWAYS: All Units should identify themselves at the front of their campsite in some manner. Troop flags are a minimum.
VISITORS: Visitors are welcome at the Rendezvous Event, and are encouraged to come to Campfire.
SANITARY FACILITIES: Please use the provided sanitary facilities for your body's needs. We are very close to a lake and a stream and will have an environmental impact with undue abuse.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS: Specially designed Rendezvous certificates (5) will be given for Troops excelling in Scout Spirit, teamwork, campsite cleanliness, and overall participation. Each Unit will receive embroidered patches which will be awarded along with beads of participation.
STAFF: Staff is an honor and your participation will be honored with the above awards, staff neckerchief and a special staff coup for participation. The Lone Bear organizing committee requests that all staff members set the best of examples by leading their program, activities, judging, communication and participation in accordance with the Scout Oath and Law.
