Abbreviated Rules and general information.

If your dog will hold a point long enough for the judge to see it, and if your dog will retrieve a bird to within two steps of you, that’s all it takes to be a contender in the gundog event. Electronic collars are allowed in all levels for the safety of dogs and participants. Safety is our main goal. No birds will be shot on the ground. Whenever there is a question as to the safety of the hunter, judge, or dog, the team will be awarded a safety. The full 300 points will be awarded if a "safety" is called by the judge or any of the teammates. Judges reserve the right to disqualify any team or team member for unsafe shooting practices. Time in the field is called when the fifth Chukar or Quail is retrieved, and is in the hand of either of the team mates. For Pointing Lab and Young dog, 3 birds will be harvested. Extra points are given for each unused shell, and for each unused minute under the 20 minute time limit. (In the Spring Hunt, Team members will shoot two rounds of 3 shots with a scoped and un-scoped 22 caliber rifle at two targets. Rifles and 22 cal. Ammunition will be provided. Each team member will shoot 1 round (10 birds) of Sporting Trap, which will be added to their score in the field. Shotgun shells,(18 per entry- 6 for each hunter) provided by each team, must have size 7 ½ shot, or smaller, due to safety reasons. Full rules will be sent upon receipt of payment.

Pointing Lab braces will be run using most APLA field rules. 20 minutes in the field. E Collars are allowed for safety reasons.
